Across most traditional cultures the postpartum period is recognized as an integral time for a mother to heal, integrate and bond with her fresh new babe.

It’s through the combination of rest, warmth, nourishment, community & ritual, that the journey of birth can be brought to a close in a way that protects mother’s vitality for the rest of her life.

In modernized fast-paced cultures, this knowledge is not already held by the people. This can make it challenging for a mother and baby, to not only find the adequate support and nurturance, but to actually allow herself to receive it.

This is not a matter that only concerns people with children. It affects us all, because the health of our communities begin with taking care of our mothers first.

I support new mothers during this tender time, with nutrient dense foods and folk healing from the kamado hearth.

My knowledge is rooted in my Zainichi Korean, Japanese and Canadian ancestral lineages. As well as the Ojibwe-Mexica wisdom shared by my teacher at Postpartum Healing Lodge and community.
