hon’no : instinct, the inherent inclination of a living organism towards a particular complex behavior

Women birthing is as old as time

with family, with other women, or at times alone.

Birth is one of the oldest and most basic knowings of our human-creature ways.

Almost all were home births.

But somewhere only in the last hundred years, birth slipped out of the hands of the

people and into the medical system.

More often than not, there, birth is pathologized and treated as a dangerous procedure.

Tests, machines and protocols have replaced a woman’s inner knowing and have

estranged us from the natural process of our bodies to birth.

This is how most of us enter the world and what we have come to accept as birth today,

creating unimaginable ripples that affect our collective well-being.

Everything begins with birth.

But what if there is another way?

A birthing way … where we protect the inherent design of physiologic birth

A birthing way… where we respect a woman’s hon’no (instinct) to guide the way

A birthing way… where we trust babies to emerge on their own time, straight into mother’s hands, sticky, wild, and at peace

A birthing way… where the sanctity of life is honoured and community circles around motherbaby to thrive

Just what if, we all began life free and deeply connected?
